Abstract:
A lattice design is presented of a ring for accumulation of 8 GeV protons from Project-X linac and compression into 4-8 short (sigma_t~2ns) bunches. Large negative momentum compaction factor (alfa_c=-0.12) raises the microwave instability threshold well above the design parameter range for accumulated beam. Large average dispersion function and absence of dispersion-free straights reduce the space-charge tuneshifts below 0.1. However, there can be problems with extraction of compressed bunches due to large horizontal beam size, so a section with reduced dispersion function should be added in the next version of the ring.
