Abstract:
The IDS-NF acceleration systems accelerate a muon beam to 25 GeV total energy for a neutrino factory. The acceleration occurs in 4 stages: a linac, two recirculating linear accelerators, and a linear non-scaling fixed field alternating gradient accelerator (FFAG). The document describes the requirements for the acceleration systems, the motivation for the choices, and the initial configuration. Preliminary designs for the linac and the FFAG are presented in appendices.
